The state of Michigan has released its annual list of the worst schools in the state, and some of the usual suspects are on the list.

Hamady Middle School, Northwestern High School, and Potter School are among the bottom 5% of schools in Michigan. These schools, and the others on this list, could face closures in the near future if they don't make improvements.

WILX reports that districts that fall in the bottom 5% of Michigan schools can do three things to improve their standing:

Pass necessary exams to get off the bottom 5%. Meet math and reading requirements and have 95% of the district taking the M-STEP.
