Reporting from ABC 12 indicates that registered nurses at MyMichigan Medical Center in Alma say they'll walk off the job for three days starting July 3. The nurses, who are represented by the Michigan Nurses Association, say they're protesting what they describe as unfair labor practices while also pushing for a better contract.
Union And Hospital Disagree On Compensation
According to the union, the hospital's latest proposal would provide no raises during the first year of the contract and 1% raises in each of the following two years. The union also claims some nurses wouldn't see any wage increase at all during that period.

But the hospital sees things differently. MyMichigan Health says its proposal includes wage enhancements, step increases, and other compensation adjustments. Hospital officials also stress that the medical center will remain open throughout the strike and that patient care won't be interrupted.
