
New Twist in Genesys Nurses’ Strike as Hospital Acts on Contract
Henry Ford Genesys says it plans to move forward with implementing its latest contract terms as the strike involving hundreds of union nurses continues. The announcement comes as the dispute, which has been going on since early September, shows no signs of easing.
Union Challenges “Impasse” Declaration
Teamsters Local 332, which represents the striking nurses, argues that the hospital’s declaration of an impasse is unlawful. Union President Dan Glass says the statement signals a breakdown the union disputes, adding that they believe the hospital has avoided productive negotiations.
Nurses Describe Ongoing Frustration
Nurses on the picket line echoed the frustration. Some told us they’ve spent decades caring for patients at Henry Ford Genesys and now feel discouraged by how the process has unfolded.

Nurses have been on strike since September 1, and the standoff has shaped daily life not just for staff, but for the families who depend on the care they provide.
Hospital Says It’s Bargaining in Good Faith
Henry Ford Health responded to the latest developments and says it continues to negotiate in good faith. According to the hospital, both sides have met more than 60 times since April, including face-to-face sessions and talks with state and federal mediators.

Another bargaining meeting is scheduled for Thursday evening. The hospital also pointed to the details of its proposed contract, which includes pay increases of up to 8.6 percent, a comprehensive benefits package, and staffing ratios carried over from previous agreements.

Both sides say they’re committed to reaching a resolution, but for now the strike remains in place as negotiations continue.
