New Ruling in Genesys Nurses Strike Leaves More Questions
The nurses strike at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital has been going on since September, and every time progress takes a step forward, it feels like it takes two steps back.
What the NLRB Decision Means for Genesys Nurses
Now there is another update, and it is more of the same back and forth. The National Labor Relations Board has dismissed a charge filed by the union, which claimed the hospital moved ahead with contract terms last November without a full agreement.

The issue centers around health insurance data. The union asked for detailed information during negotiations. The hospital provided reports over the summer, but the union said it was not enough and pushed for more specific details tied to individual employees.
Why the Genesys Hospital Strike Is Still Ongoing
The hospital pushed back, citing possible HIPAA concerns, even after the union suggested using ID numbers instead of names. On November 4, the hospital declared an impasse and implemented parts of its proposed contract according to a report from MidMichiganNow.com.

After reviewing the situation, the NLRB says the hospital acted in good faith and made a reasonable effort to provide the requested information, so the charge was dismissed. But this is far from over.
What Happens Next in the Genesys Labor Dispute
The union says it plans to appeal and points out there are still several other charges pending. They maintain this is an unfair labor practice strike. Meanwhile, the hospital says it is ready for nurses to return and continues hiring.
