Genesee County Man Thought He Won $50,000 Until He Looked at His Lottery Ticket Again
A Genesee County man says his heart started pounding when he thought he'd won $50,000 on a Michigan Lottery scratch-off ticket. Then, when he took a closer look, his heart started beating uncontrollably once again.
That's because he'd misread the ticket. Instead of winning $50,000, he'd actually won the game's top prize of $500,000.
Genesee County Man Gets a Big Lottery Surprise
The 51-year-old winner said he initially couldn't believe he'd won $50,000, but the real surprise came later that day.
“I play the lottery a lot and have won smaller prizes such as $100, $200, and even $5,000 a few times,” said the lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous. “When I scratched this ticket, I thought I won $50,000, and I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited! Later that day, I looked the ticket over again, and my heart started pounding when I realized it was actually a $500,000 winner. It was unreal!”
The lucky player tells Michigan Lottery Connect that he purchased his winning Triple Red 7s ticket at the Northend Market on North Saginaw Street in Flint.
What He Plans to Do With the Money
“I haven’t decided how I want to use the prize money yet, so I’m going to put it in my savings account and think on it for a while,” the player said.
