According to ABC News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released a safety recall report on Monday, September 8, indicating that Ford is aware of 18 accidents linked to the faulty camera issue. However, there have been no reports of injuries.
Global Impact of the Recall
Globally, this recall stretches to nearly 1.9 million vehicles, including 1.45 million in the U.S. and more than 400,000 in Canada and other markets. The rearview cameras were supplied by Magna International, which also has facilities in Michigan.
Ford said owners will be notified by mail beginning September 22. Dealers will inspect and replace the faulty cameras at no cost, ensuring the vehicles are safe to operate.
