When you make a major purchase, like a car, a house, or even a plot of land, it’s exciting to take it all in. But a Mid-Michigan property owner who thought they were getting a fresh start with a new piece of land made a discovery that has now turned into an active police investigation.

How the Property Owner Made the Shocking Find

Michigan State Police from the Flint Post say troopers were called to a home on Willard Road in Forest Township Wednesday afternoon (3/18/2026). The caller had recently bought the property and, while going through it, came across something that didn’t look right. They found what they believed could be human remains. That’s when things escalated quickly.

Troopers, detectives, and a K9 unit responded to the scene to conduct a full search of the property. After investigating, officials confirmed the remains were, in fact, human.

Police have not said how long the remains may have been there, who they might belong to, or how this situation unfolded. WJRT reports that as of now, no suspects are in custody.

What we do know is that the investigation is active and ongoing, and authorities are asking for the public’s help.
