A deer in Jackson County is now safely back in the wild after an unusual rescue by Michigan State Police troopers on Friday, October 10.

The Call for Help – Deer Trapped in Fence

Troopers from the Jackson Post responded to a call on the 3600 block of Spring Arbor Road after a local resident reported a deer trapped in a wrought iron fence. The animal had attempted to pass through the fence rails but became stuck, with its body caught midway through.

Troopers’ Clever Rescue Techniques

Using a combination of ingenuity and patience, the troopers carefully freed the deer without causing any harm. They used a floor jack from a vehicle emergency kit to slowly widen the fence rails. To help keep the animal calm, one officer even placed his jacket over the deer’s head, preventing it from panicking during the rescue.
