According to the Burton Police Department, the call regarding a bomb at the Meijer was received on Saturday, September 27, at 8:35 p.m. The store was immediately evacuated, with all customers, staff, and bystanders asked to leave the premises while law enforcement officers from the Burton Police Department and the Michigan State Police conducted a search of the building.
Police determined the threat was not credible and told ABC-12 it was traced to two juveniles from Delta Township who were visiting one of their mothers in Flint Township.

On Sunday, a tragic shooting and fire broke out at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, resulting in five deaths and numerous injuries. The suspect in that case is known to be from Burton.
Despite the proximity in time and geography, law enforcement has confirmed there is no connection between the Meijer bomb-threat incident and the church shooting and fire.
Police emphasized that the two events remain distinct, and no overlap in motive, suspects, or coordination has been found.
