
Flint Parents Speak, Seek Justice After 9-Year-Old Killed in 200-Shot Attack
We recently reported on a horrific tragedy when a 9-year-old girl from Flint was killed while sleeping in her bed as more than 200 gunshots were fired at her home. Police say it was a targeted attack. Now, as more details emerge, the heartbreak surrounding Tyhari Knox’s death continues to grow.
More Than 200 Shots Fired Into Flint Home, Killing Sleeping 9-Year-Old
According to Flint police, multiple shooters opened fire on a home in the Mott Park neighborhood early Friday morning, unloading more than 200 rounds into the house while several children and adults were inside.

Tyhari was upstairs asleep with her sister when bullets tore through the home. Tyhari was killed, and her sister was shot in the leg but is expected to recover physically.
Flint Family Speaks After Deadly Flint Shooting
ABC 12 spoke with Tyhari’s parents, who are now trying to process an unimaginable loss. Her father, TyRaye Knox, was downstairs watching television when the shooting began, while her mother, Alexis Smith, was downstairs with three other children who were not hurt.

Smith described Tyhari as smart, loving, and full of personality. She loved TikTok, dancing, and singing. Speaking through tears, Smith said she cannot understand why someone would target a home filled with children. She said:
It was unnecessary. It’s a house of kids.
Police Believe Arrests Are Coming Soon
Flint Police Chief Terence Green says investigators have strong leads and feels confident arrests are coming soon. Tyhari’s parents, along with Sixth Ward Flint City Councilwoman Tonya Burns, are pleading for anyone with information to come forward.
Her father summed up the pain being felt across the city in one heartbreaking sentence:
We have to come together. My daughter is gone.
