In all, 28 vehicles are being added across some of the busiest departments in the city, including Streets and Blight, the Police Department, and the Sewer Department. Mayor Sheldon Neeley says this upgrade was made possible through a grant from the State of Michigan, calling it Flint’s first full fleet refresh since 2007. He says the new additions will 'go a long way to improving the quality of life for residents inside the City of Flint.'

What the New Fleet Includes

And there’s no waiting period, these vehicles are already being deployed. Here’s a look at what’s new:

Streets Department / Blight Division
• 2 Elgin Eagle Sweepers
• 2 Elgin Whirlwind Vacs
• 1 Freightliner Hooklift Combo Unit (with a leaf vac, salt spreader, and plow)
• 1 Tymco 500x Street Sweeper
• 1 Lightning Loader

These upgrades will help crews tackle leaf collection, cleanups, winter weather, and street sweeping far more efficiently in neighborhoods across Flint.
