Flint Could Reach 100 Degrees Tuesday for First Time Since 2012
The last heat wave was miserable because it felt like you were walking around inside a wet towel. This next round of heat is going to be a little different. It's still going to be brutally hot, but the air will be much drier, which means temperatures can climb even higher.
Michigan's Heat Wave Peaks Tuesday
Tuesday is shaping up to be the hottest day, and some parts of Michigan could actually hit the century mark for the first time since 2012. That's something we haven't seen in more than a decade according to MLive.
Parts of Mid-Michigan Could Reach Triple Digits
The hottest temperatures are expected from the Saginaw Valley into northeast Michigan. Cities like Alma, Mount Pleasant, Midland, Gladwin, Standish and Oscoda are all forecast to reach around 100 degrees, with Oscoda possibly topping out at 101.

You might think Detroit or the southern part of the state would be hottest, but a west wind is actually setting things up differently. Lake Michigan will knock temperatures down a bit along the lakeshore, while sinking air over eastern Lower Michigan helps temperatures soar.
What About Temperatures in Flint?
Around Flint and much of southern Michigan, highs should stay in the upper 90s. That sounds better... until you factor in the humidity. While central Michigan's heat will be mostly "dry heat," southern Michigan could see heat index values around 104 degrees, making it feel even more uncomfortable.

The good news? Relief is on the way. Temperatures will slowly ease from north to south beginning Wednesday, with more noticeable cooling expected by the end of the week. Until then, if you're spending time outside, drink plenty of water, take breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and don't leave kids or pets in parked vehicles for any amount of time.
