Flint’s Miracle Newborn Tragically Dies After Mother was Shot and Killed
This story was already heartbreaking, but now it's almost unbearable. The 'miracle' newborn baby who was delivered after his mother was shot in Flint has died, family members confirmed early Thursday morning. Baby Isaiah had been fighting since the moment he entered the world, according to MLive.
Flint Newborn Dies After Emergency Delivery at Hurley Medical Center
His mother, 34-year-old Ashley Williams, was shot and killed inside a home on Browning Avenue on Tuesday, February 10. Despite the horrific news about Ashley, her family saw a short-lived glimmer of hope as far as her baby goes.

In those frantic moments afterward, a Genesee County Sheriff’s deputy rode in the ambulance performing CPR, using a LUCAS chest compression device to keep Ashley’s blood circulating long enough for doctors at Hurley Medical Center to perform an emergency C-section. For a brief window, there was hope. Unfortunately that window almost too brief.
Genesee County Deputy Helped Keep Mother Alive for Delivery
Ashley’s mother, Kathy Williams, said the hospital called her around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. Isaiah’s lungs simply were not developed enough. Despite doctors working on him for hours, he did not survive.
Hurley worked on him for a long time. He just crashed. I’m just glad that Ashley let me borrow him for a couple days to meet him. He’s in mom’s arms now.
There is something about what she said that just sticks with you.
Flint Police Investigating Fifth Homicide of the Year
Police say the shooting was not random and they are still trying to identify and arrest the person responsible. This is already Flint’s fifth homicide of the year, something Police Chief Terence Green addressed during a press conference this week.
Flint Family Pleads for Answers on Browning Avenue
Ashley’s family says she had a kind spirit and did not deserve this. Now they are asking the community to come forward. If you have cameras on Browning Avenue, if you saw something, if you know something, they are pleading for answers.

Two lives are gone. A family is shattered. And the only thing left now is the hope that someone speaks up so justice can follow. If you have any information, please contact the Flint Police Department at 810-237-6800.
