What started as a Facebook Marketplace meetup over car parts ended with a Genesee County man dead, a Detroit man sentenced to life in prison, and a case that people around Mid-Michigan still can’t believe actually happened.

A judge sentenced 31-year-old Omar Brogdon to life without parole after prosecutors said he shot and killed Orhan Hosic during a meeting at Hosic’s Fenton Township home back in July 2024. The details surrounding the case almost sound unreal.

How the Fenton Township Facebook Marketplace Meetup Turned Deadly

Investigators said the argument reportedly started during a planned sale involving Corvette seats and somehow escalated into a dispute over which car brand was better, Mercedes or BMW.

Neighbors told police they saw an orange Camaro sitting in Hosic’s driveway before the shooting happened. Authorities later said the Corvette seats Hosic was trying to sell were found inside that same Camaro.

Emotional Statements From the Victim’s Family

During sentencing today (Monday, May 18, 2026) in downtown Flint, Hosic’s family delivered emotional victim impact statements that painted an even more heartbreaking picture of who he was.

His stepmother told the court Hosic had survived childhood cancer and lived with facial disfigurement. She also said the gunshot destroyed the only eye he could see out of.

Judge Calls Fenton Township Shooting “Senseless”

According to MLive, Brogdon told the judge he was scared and cornered and said he would take the shooting back if he could. But the judge called the entire incident senseless before handing down the life sentence.
