Because of Demand, Mundy Township Might Get Another New Hotel
A sure sign the economy around Grand Blanc, Flint and Genesee County has improved...is demand for hotel rooms.
Mundy Township has become the spot for hotels given its perfect location off US-23 near I-75 and just down the road from I-475.

That central, convenient location could be home to another new hotel, if approved.
TownePlace Suites by Marriott coming to Genesee County?
Mundy Township is reviewing the request for a new Marriott branded hotel, TownePlace Suites, along Hill 23 Drive off Hill Road according to WNEM-TV 5.
Lodging in the immediate area already includes:
- Best Western
- Hampton Inn & Suites
- Hyatt Place
- Gateway Center Hotel & Conventions Center (formerly the Holiday Inn)
- Residence Inn
- Courtyard by Marriott
If approved, this would be the seventh hotel in that area. The brand currently has over 20 locations in Michigan.
Long Vacant Property
Property behind Chase Bank on Hill Road goes all the way back to Hampton Inn. It's been available a long time.
On the western edge of the available property is a residential area that spans to Torrey Road.
Residents voiced some concerns.
People living behind, what would become the hotel property, expressed the area wouldn't feel residential any longer, safety concerns and privacy, while WNEM was there.
One resident said she hoped people at the hotel wouldn't "look in their windows" while speaking up at the Township meeting.
If approved, the new hotel would be four stories with approximately 100 rooms. Considering the tree line along the residential edge of the property, they may not have anything to worry about.
