You Won’t Recognize This Part of Mundy Township Anymore
My family moved to Mundy Township in 1991, and it’s crazy how much has changed in the last 35 years. Our dirt road is now paved, roundabouts are popping up everywhere, and the view when you drive down Linden between Hill and Maple has completely changed. I mean it’s completely unrecognizable. And now, it’s changing again in a big way.
Massive Changes in Mundy Township Development Area
Developers behind the Mundy Township megasite have now locked down about 1,300 acres in that stretch between Maple, Hill, Elms, and Linden. That’s a massive chunk of land, and if you’ve driven through there lately, you’ve probably already noticed something feels off.

That’s because entire neighborhoods are gone. Maple Creek Preserve, which had homes built in the mid-2000s, is completely cleared out. Families have moved, roads are blocked off, and crews are now tearing down what’s left.

Some of those homes were valued well into the $200,000 to $300,000 range, and now they’re just being torn down.
What the Megasite Means for Genesee County Jobs
The goal here is simple, even if the process isn’t. They’re trying to land a multi-billion-dollar advanced manufacturing plant that could bring thousands of jobs to Genesee County. ABC 12 reports that the state has already poured in more than $260 million to help make it happen.

But there are still a few holdouts, including Morrish Elementary, which the school district chose not to sell. And if this all sounds familiar, it’s because we were close before. The SanDisk “Project Grit” deal, which could’ve brought nearly 10,000 jobs, fell apart last year.
What Could Be Coming Next to Mid-Michigan
So right now, it’s a mix of progress and waiting. Land is being cleared, money is being spent, and the landscape is changing fast. The only question is, what actually ends up going there?
