36 Genesee County Houses Wiped Off the Map, But They’re Still on Google Maps
If you live in Mundy Township or you frequently drive up and down Linden Road between Hill and Maple, you’ve noticed some changes over the last few months. But if you haven’t been there in a while, you won’t even recognize it.
It’s like that scene in ‘Back to the Future’ when Marty McFly accidentally arrives in 1955 and sees where his neighborhood should be, but it hasn’t been built yet. The exact opposite has happened on Linden Road.
How the Mundy Township Megasite Changed Everything
It all goes back to when manufacturing giant SanDisk made a deal with Mundy Township, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, among others, to construct a Mundy Township Megasite to produce computer chips. Once that happened, deals were made with private property and homeowners to purchase their land to make room for the new facility.

While this was going on in the summer of 2025, it was announced that SanDisk had backed out of the deal to create a computer chip manufacturing facility in Genesee County. Many local residents were fighting to keep the Megasite out of their community. And while they may have gotten what they wanted, demolition was already underway.
36 Houses Are Gone From Linden Road
Every single house and business located on the west side of Linden Road between Maple Road and Hill Road in Mundy Township has been demolished and bulldozed, with the exception of two things.

Thirty-six of the 37 houses and structures have been wiped off the map, yet according to Google Maps, they are all still there.
One House and Morrish Elementary Still Stand
Developers have been trying to purchase Morrish Elementary School, which has a main entrance on Maple and a secondary entrance on Linden. They have held out on a sale, so the Linden Road entrance is still there and in service. We spoke with one Mundy Township resident who had no idea that there was even a school there until all the houses in front of it were knocked down.

Right next to the Linden Road entrance to the school is the last remaining house on that side of the road. One homeowner stood up and said no, while every other resident and property owner has since moved out and moved on.
What Happens to the Mundy Megasite Now?
So, were all of these houses demolished for nothing? Is there a plan for the former SanDisk facility? Without Marty’s DeLorean time machine to travel to the future, there is no way to know.
