Animal Remains Found at Abandoned Mundy Township Property

There’s a heartbreaking situation in Mundy Township, where neglected animals were discovered at an abandoned property, and now authorities are trying to find out who left them there.

Sheep and Goats Found Without Water in Mundy Township

Genesee County Sheriff’s detectives and Animal Control responded Saturday to a tip about sheep and goats on the property in the 7000 block of Jennings Road just south of Hill Road.

When they arrived, they found the animals living among rotting hay with no water. There was also no one living on the property. Investigators found the remains of other animals as well. Authorities believe some of those animals may have starved to death according to ABC 12.

Animal Control Needs Rescues and Volunteers

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson says there is an immediate need for rescues and volunteers who are willing and able to take in the surviving farm animals.

The problem is that Animal Control does not have a facility equipped to house farm animals, so they are asking the community for help. Sheriff Chris Swanson said:

We need rescues and volunteers that are not only capable, but willing to take these animals because Animal Control does not have a place for farm animals.

Authorities Searching for Whoever Was Responsible

Swanson says his office will continue investigating and looking for whoever was responsible for the animals. He also made it clear that people who abuse, neglect, torture or starve animals to death can be held accountable.

For now, the priority is getting the surviving sheep and goats somewhere safe and making sure they receive the care they need. Anyone who can help care for the remaining farm animals is being asked to contact Genesee County Animal Control.
