The Latest on the Henry Ford Genesys Nurses Strike
We are well into the second week of the nurses' strike at Henry Ford Hospital in Grand Blanc, and we're still waiting to hear about any progress. Teamsters Local 332 represents 750 burses and case managers at the hospital. They hit the picket line on Monday, September 1st, 2025 fighting for a fair agreement moving forward.
Union Leaders Say Core Issues Ignored
According to a post on the Teamsters Local 332 Facebook page, they want guarantees on safe nurse-to-patient ratios, fair wages and better working conditions. Tammy Zander is a nurse from Linden. She told us that the hospital hasn't moved at all on any of the major points.
Local 332 President Dan Glass said, "We were hoping Henry Ford would be more eager to address the core issues that our members need resolved. We did make a little movement, again, nothing on the core issues, but continue to be willing to bargain and get a contract that our members will ratify overwhelmingly."

Hospital Pushes Back on Staffing Ratios
Henry Ford Genesys Hospital says it remains open and fully staffed during the strike by Teamsters Local 332, assuring the community that patients are still receiving safe, high-quality care. Leaders say they’d rather have their own nurses back at work and remain committed to reaching a fair agreement that recognizes their expertise while keeping the hospital financially strong.
The hospital argues that mandated staffing ratios could create delays in care and points to thousands of call-offs by union nurses before the strike as a major challenge in keeping ideal nurse-to-patient ratios. Officials add that the proposed contract offers pay and benefits that are competitive with other Henry Ford Health hospitals, with most union members making over $100,000 a year before overtime.
Negotiations Set to Resume This Week
Henry Ford Health, which took over Genesys in late 2024, says the hospital has faced years of financial losses and is pushing forward with a turnaround plan. Negotiations are set to continue tomorrow (9/10/2025) and Friday (9/12/2025).
UPDATE: Apparently the negotiations on Wednesday 9/10/2025 concluded with no progress being made to end the strike.
