The city of Flint is tired of the constant mess and disrespect for our community and is now cracking down on illegal dumping.

I can already tell you that this is a behavioral problem deeper than making arrests. While threatening trash dumpers may deter some, the likelihood of it stopping anything soon is very slim.

Law enforcement made a comment on the current state of trash dumping in Flint and what they plan to do to help combat Flint's blight issue.

Det. Sgt. Tyrone Booth says the City of Flint is cracking down on illegal dumpers by making more arrests.

"We have many initiatives to deal with this criminally in terms of surveillance.. video surveillance and man surveillance," said Det. Sgt. Tyrone Booth with the Flint Police Department. SOurce:NBC25.com

Now, this isn't some new problem with the city of Flint. City officials have been working tirelessly over the past couple of years to do their best to keep Flint clean.  So far over 2.7 million pounds of trash have been collected and over 10,000 abandoned tires have been found scattered throughout the city.

That's a crazy amount of trash! What happened to just putting things in the dumpster? When did we start having such a lack of respect for our community?  I hope with this new focus our keeping our city clean people will start to see how important it is to speak up when you see trash being dumped in a weird spot.

If you see anything feel free to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL (5245) so we can take back our city, one piece of trash at a time. (I'm referring to the trash dumpers).
