Flint Business Owner Running His 50th Boston Marathon Today

RUN MARK RUN!

Mark Bauman ran his first marathon in 1970 and today, he'll be only the second runner in Boston Marathon history to run 50 consecutive races.

Yes, he is THAT Mark Bauman, owner of Bauman's Running and Walking Shop on Hill Road in Flint. He runs about 3,000 miles per year and says that he's "lucky" to have been able to run every race in the last 50 years.

He says that he was encouraged to run by his older brother, who told him to try out for the cross-country team at (formerly) Ainsworth High School. It was his running coach in college who suggested he go for a full marathon, which he did.
