The Flint YMCA Santa Run is Virtual This Year – Here’s The Info
Random Santas, running around the streets in Genesee County? Cool.
Just like everything else this year, the Flint YMCA has had to adapt to the current pandemic situation. And, like a lot of other non-profit organizations, they didn't stop when everybody locked down - they've been continuing to serve the community since it began.
This year, they are having the 11th Annual Santa Run, but it will be virtual. So, you can do the race, get the Santa suit and the medal, and run/walk whenever/wherever you want.
Pam Bailey, the director of fundraising and public relations, called into the show this morning:
"It's been tough, not being able to hold a summer camp, being closed for seven months was difficult, but our branches are open. We're excited to be back and serving the community. We served over 120,000 meals to people in flint during the lockdown.
There WILL be a reindeer run; they'll also have DIY take-home crafts and activities.
"Because we're doing this virtually, there's no set course. We are encouraging people to run around the community. And we think it's going to be even BETTER because Santas are going to take over Genesee county!"
Registration is $25 until November 15th, when the price goes up. To register, click HERE.
"We need it now more than ever; this helps us help the community."
We've done it twice before; it's an absolute blast, and it will be fun to randomly see Santas running around the community. Register now before the price goes up!
