With the number of electronic vehicles on the rise in Michigan, Consumers Energy plans to add more charging stations.

Consumers Energy has made a commitment to powering one million electronic vehicles throughout the state in the next 8 years. Their commitment to helping supply the communities they serve has homes of being completed by 2030. The energy company hopes to install another 200 new electronic vehicle charging stations over the next two years, which includes 100 fast chargers installed by the end of 2023.

According to the Michigan Secretary of State, the number of electronic vehicles in the communities that Consumers Energy serves is up 71% over last year.

How many electronic vehicle chargers has Consumers Energy already installed in Michigan?

To date, Consumers Energy has already installed over 1,500 of these charges across the Lower Peninsula. Of those 1,500+ chargers, 35 of them are fast chargers and are capable of charging electronic vehicle batteries in 30 minutes.

Where are the public EV charging stations in Genesee County?

For our friends here in Genesee County, there are several public electric vehicle charging stations available. You can find electronic vehicle charging stations in the following cities:

  • Burton
  • Davison
  • Flint
  • Flushing
  • Grand Blanc
  • Mt. Morris

More and more charging stations are popping up every day so I'm sure there are more out there.

I'm still not sure if I am ready to pull the trigger on an all-electric vehicle just yet. I'm horrible when it comes to getting gas when I'm close to empty, so remembering to plan ahead to charge or have enough juice to get to where I need to go might not be good for me.
