Consumers Energy Issues Warning As More Michigan Storms Move In
If Wednesday night's storms felt like they were everywhere, that's because they pretty much were.
Another Round Of Storms Targets Michigan
Strong thunderstorms rolled through Mid-Michigan, bringing damaging winds, heavy rain, downed power lines, and power outages from Genesee County to Saginaw County, Bay County, and beyond. Unfortunately, utility crews aren't exactly getting much of a break because another round of storms is expected to move through parts of the state today.

Consumers Energy says it's been preparing for this type of weather for days according to ABC 12. The company tracks storm systems whenever severe weather is possible and shifts into what it describes as an "all hands on deck" response when outages start piling up.
Consumers Energy Moves Into Response Mode
For people across Genesee County, that's especially relevant after a week that has already included tornadoes, storm damage, and thousands of customers losing power across Mid-Michigan.

Crews have been responding to downed lines and assessing damage in several communities, including areas around Freeland where recent storms caused significant problems.
What Residents Should Do Before The Next Storm
Consumers Energy is encouraging customers to take a few simple precautions before the next round arrives. Charge your phones and other important devices ahead of time, and consider unplugging sensitive electronics like computers and televisions during severe weather. That can help prevent damage if power flickers or surges when service is restored.

The company is also reminding drivers to be extra cautious around restoration crews. If you see utility trucks working along roadsides, give them plenty of room to safely do their jobs.
With more storms in the forecast, it may be one of those stretches where keeping an eye on the weather app and making sure your phone is charged isn't a bad idea.
