This video of the abandoned Pirates Park in Flint will bring back all the nostalgia.

While cruising around on YouTube, I stumbled across this video the was uploaded back in April of this year. The channel is Sets, Streets & Eats. The narrator is Flint's own Chris Bower (sp?) and he did a great job reliving his childhood experiences at Pirate's Park. So if you're seeing this my friend, I really enjoyed the video. Be sure to check out the rest of his videos too for some awesome travel vlogs from around the country.

Many people that grew up in Flint in the 90's and early 2000's have some sort of memory of Pirates Park. I was only there a couple of times during its existence. In fact, my very first visit to Pirates Park was also one of my first live broadcasts ever in my radio career. I believe it was my fourth live broadcast ever back when I worked at CK 105.5 in the early 2000's.

It is really sad to see such a cool place sitting abandoned right in our own backyard. While I never actually got to experience much, just seeing what was actually there shows me how cool it was. Pirates Park pretty much had it all. Batting cages, go-karts, arcade games, bumper boats, bungee jumping, a water slide, and more.

See the full walkthrough in the video below. This comparison shot comes up around 7:08 in the video.

As of August 24th, 2021 a gofundme campaign was started by organizer Danen Williams to bring the park back to life. See the plans and the pitch here. Good luck Danen, we are rooting for you!
