I still find this hard to believe. It may soon be possible that women in the armed forces could be moved into roles of combat, even on the front lines of a battle. The Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta is expected to make that announcement today.

Women have always been restricted from participating in armed combat. So, what changed?

A senior defense official, speaking with NBC News, said, "We are moving in the direction of women as infantry soldiers."

Congress will have to approve these changes (if they can ever agree on anything these days) Our Senator from Michigan, Carl Levin, supports the concept, claiming that, "It reflects the reality of 21st-century military operations."

There is a swell of support for these changes, and it's application is very possible. I guess I'm old fashioned, but I just don't understand why our country would consider this change. .
