Kelly Stafford, wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, is pretty passionate about what she puts on her social media including Instagram, but today she’s issuing an apology.

Kelly Stafford said she is "over living in a dictatorship that we call Michigan" in a series stories on her Instagram on Thursday morning. In the videos, which came one day after new COVID-19 restrictions went into effect in the mitten state. Stafford voiced her opinion that shutting down small businesses is not the answer.

She showed concern over small businesses noting, "They will not make it. So once we are able to leave our house, once this dictatorship lets us have some freedom, there will be nothing left," she said.

The usually social active voice of the Lion's QB noted that her thoughts may not be everyone's.  In the series of posts, and said she that she knows everyone isn't going to agree with her, but that's her opinion.

Hours later, she issued the following apology:

"Here's what I do best, coming back to apologize after I read some of your things . . . I'm really sorry, I was in the heat of the moment. I have a friend losing their business and it's just getting to me a little bit, so I apologize for calling it a dictatorship, probably the not so smart use of words."

Stafford also wrote on Thursday in her Instagram apology.

"i got caught up in the heat of the moment, that is my fault. i don't know the answer and i won't pretend to. i care about the people who are losing their lives or battling this.. and also the medical staff who care for them. and it is hard knowing these local business owners and watching them struggle and having to lay off their employees, not knowing how they are gonna make it. so i'm sorry. i let my emotions get the best of me. i love michigan and the people here.. don't get that twisted in this This place was my rock during my tough times."

This is not the first time Kelly Stafford has made headlines with her opinions on COVID-19 situations. Back In August, she criticized the NFL for its handling of a false positive test that her husband received and said her family was harassed because of it.
