The decision was reversed yesterday after a 9-0 vote.

Yesterday, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners reversed the controversial decision from the previous week that would've spent $50,000 of the veteran's millage to sponsor the Ally Challenge PGA Tournament.

Dozens of veterans showed up at a meeting yesterday morning to voice their opinions. Most of the speakers were against the decision, saying that the money could be better spent elsewhere. They spent more than an hour at the microphone. A couple of the veterans didn't oppose it, however, saying that it was an innovative way to reach out to veterans.

Personally, I'm glad they reversed it. It proves, maybe just this ONCE, that the voices of the people can override a bad government decision.

However, I'll be interested to see how they use the money to reach out to veterans if it's not through the PGA tournament.
