Thanks For The Laughs: Jon Stewart Hosts ‘The Daily Show’ One Final Time [VIDEOS-NSFW]
I was just a year out of high school when Jon Stewart began his epic run on 'The Daily Show', and I don't think anyone expected what would happen over the next 16 1/2 years, not even Jon himself. He's made such an impression on America with his little late-night satirical fake newscast.
Today (8/6/15), on his last day as 'The Daily Show' host, many Americans and devoted viewers worldwide are wondering not just how they're going to get their news, but who will they get it from? After all, he is arguable the most trusted celebrity on TV! While there's no denying that he's one of a kind, his reason for leaving the show has nothing to do with money, ratings or even boredom with the show. Stewart wants what most of us strive for... more time with his family, and you gotta respect him for that! That's makes his departure so bittersweet.
Jon always finds a way to craft the perfect words that we need to hear exactly when we need it. Like he demonstrated during his monologue the day after the recent Charleston shooting, Stewart knows when to put the jokes aside and strike other emotions to bring us together as a nation.
Trevor Noah is making some big changes as he settles into the anchor desk, and I think that's a great idea. Trevor Noah is not Jon Stewart, and Noah knows it. He needs to make the show his own while attempting to maintain the loyal fan base which is by no means an easy task.
We wish Trevor Noah nothing but the best on his new role as host of 'The Daily Show', and we'd also like to say congratulations and thank you to the one and only, Jon Stewart! Thanks for helping us make sense of this crazy world, and comforting us when we needed it most. Now you go and enjoy spending time with the people that you've worked so hard for over the past 17 years! Just curious, you sure you don't want to run for president? You've got my vote!
I started this article with some of Jon's best moments hosting 'The Daily Show', but I found this next one incredibly interesting. It's a Rolling Stone interview from a few years ago about how the show is made. You can hear in the interview how much Jon loves his kids and wished he could spend more time with them. I'm so happy that he finally got his wish. Oh, and this next video contains your typical Stewart: raw and uncensored, so heads up!
