Powerhouse Gym to Open World's Largest, New Location in Michigan

When stores started leaving malls around Flint and Metro Detroit, MI... Planet Fitness took advantage of the open properties with plenty of square footage.

Now, another gym is taking advantage of an enormous amount of space to create something new.

And very, very big.

Filling a former, massive department store with fitness.

Fans of The Mall at Partridge Creek, which opened in 2007 in Clinton Township, will be glad to see former anchor store, Carson's, put to good use.

Powerhouse Gym has plans for its largest facility in the world.

Currently, their largest gyms are half the size of what they have planned.

According to Crain's Detroit Business, the Carson's property is around 120,000 square feet.

Powerhouse plans to use all of it at Partridge Creek which is just around the corner from the popular LA Fitness.

When will the new Powerhouse Gym open at Partridge Creek?

The company plans to spend approximately $9 million renovating the space. Can't imagine waiting for any equipment in a facility that large.

Look for the grand opening in Q1 of 2025 -- which is only 12-15 months away.

How many locations does Powerhouse have in Michigan?

Some of the company's largest gyms are currently located in Michigan.

Metro Detroit has over a dozen with a few operating 24/7. Fenton and the Lansing area each have a location, too.

We're looking forward to seeing the new facility which will have everything from a pool to dry sauna and fitness classes.

In an era where malls need vision to remain part of their respective communities, this is a smart move. All businesses in the area will see increased traffic.
