Oh Yay: Davison, MI is the Winner of Even More Road Construction
Drivers around Davison, Goodrich and Otisville, MI have certainly had their fair share of road construction this summer.
As if the M-15 and Lapeer Road projects weren't disruptive enough, now another major project will run through mid-November.

Irish Road construction in Davison, MI
Construction gets underway this week on Irish Road from Court Street to Lapeer Road in Davison. This is what Genesee County Road Commission calls a rehabilitation of the roadway.
GCRC Communications Coordinator, Kylie Dontje, tells us what the project includes:
- parts of the concrete area will be replaced, other portions repaired.
- sidewalk ramps
- guardrail
- lowering of the roadway under I-69 bridges to make it easier for trucks since it's an all-season route.
- pavement markings
The good news is that it won't be a complete road closure like the M-15 project travelers endured over the summer.
What drivers can expect while Irish Road is under construction:
Genesee County Road Commission will close down the northbound lanes of Irish Road while maintaining two-way traffic on the southbound side.
Parents and staff can still get to Gates Elementary, but it may take a little longer until road construction is completed by mid-November.
The project received $1.7 million in federal funds while GCRC is paying $450,000.
The area around Irish Road and I-69 has grown so much over the last 10-15 years. It's better to get it done now, before more businesses open, and traffic is even heavier.
