
Michigan Central Opens With Big Name Celebration In Detroit

All aboard the biggest event of the year that's been six years and $950 million of renovations in the making. The beautifully restored Michigan Central Train Station is launching its grand reopening in serious style and the world is invited.
The once-forgotten historic landmark, first opened in 1913, is hosting a massive live outdoor concert to celebrate its resurrection featuring a star-studded line-up of big-name artists and entertainers to celebrate its grand reopening.
"Be part of the excitement as we kick off The Station's next chapter with a once-in-a-lifetime concert that celebrates the people and stories that bring this iconic building to life, hosted by Michigan Central and Ford Motor Company", the website announced.
The 90-minute show billed as “Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central,” is taking place June 6th and will offer something for just about everyone. The night is spearheaded by Ford Motor Co. according to the press release.
"The sold-out, ticketed 90-minute outdoor concert will bring to life the spirit and soul of Detroit through an incredible lineup of musical performances, short films, appearances by local leaders, and creators telling stories of innovation and culture from around the city and the region".

- Jack White
- Jelly Roll
- Kierra Sheard
- Theo Parrish
- Illa J
- Slum Village
- The Clark Sisters
- Sky Jetta
- Detroit Symphony Orchestra
- Melissa Etheridge
- Common
- Fantasia
According to the release, those stars will be joined by presenters Mike Epps and Sophia Bush as well as Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders and stars Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown. It was also announced that comedian Tim Allen, known for his roles in Home Improvement and Last Man Standing, will perform a special comedy routine before the big show.

There are reports of several special guests floating around including Detroit's own Eminem, but as of now, his only role for the concert is serving as executive producer with his manager Paul Rosenburg.
Although the show is sold out, you can still catch all the action along with the rest of the world. The big event will stream live exclusively on Peacock starting at 8:30 p.m. ET. NBC will also air a one-hour primetime special on June 9th starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
The concert itself will exclusively air locally in Detroit on June 6 with pre-show coverage beginning at 8 p.m. ET followed by live post-show coverage at 10 p.m. ET on Local 4, and stream on Local 4+ and ClickOnDetroit.com.
