One of the biggest festivals in the state has been put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Frankenmuth's Bavarian Festival scheduled for June 11-14, has been canceled, but there are hopes of a rescheduled date according to organizers.

In a statement posted to the events Facebook page, organizers noted their concerns that lead to making the decision.

After much consideration, the Civic Events Council regrets that we are canceling, with the hope of postponing, the Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival on June 11-14, 2020.

The health and safety of our patrons, volunteers, and vendors is of utmost importance to us, and in accordance with the current environment we feel that this is a necessary decision.

Our board of directors is working diligently to reschedule the Festival for later this year, as long as we can work it out logistically. We will update our website and this page when we have more information.

The annual event, which is the largest Bavarian Festival in the state, began in 1959 and sees over 350,000 attendees.
