If you're looking for something fun to do with the family next weekend, and you happen to love blueberries, you might want to point the GPS toward Otter Lake. Blueberry Lane Farms is bringing back its annual Blueberry Festival July 31 through Aug. 2, and it sounds like they've packed just about everything into one weekend.

It's Much More Than Just Picking Blueberries

Sure, you can pick your own blueberries, or just grab some already picked if you'd rather skip the work, but that's only part of the experience according to the Blueberry Lane Farms Facebook page.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can browse artisan vendors selling handcrafted woodwork, handmade clocks, candles, wax melts, crochet creations, and plenty of other locally made goods. Whether you're looking for a unique gift or simply enjoy shopping local, there will be plenty to check out.

Blueberry Festival Provides Live Entertainment and Family Activities

The festival is designed with families in mind. Live music is scheduled for Saturday, while horse rides will be available Friday and Sunday. Kids can enjoy face painting, balloon artists, hula hooping, aerial performers, and other family-friendly activities happening throughout the weekend.

It's the kind of event where parents can relax while the kids stay busy, making it an easy day trip for families from Genesee, Lapeer, and surrounding counties.

Blueberry Bliss: Come Hungry, Leave Happy!

Let's be honest, I'm probably heading straight for the food. Fresh baked goods, blueberry pancakes, blueberry lemonade, food trucks, and sweet treats will all be available throughout the festival.

And then there's the blueberry waffle cone ice cream. I don't know who came up with that idea, but they deserve a raise.

The family-owned farm has welcomed visitors for decades and has grown into one of the largest U-pick blueberry farms in the Midwest. If you're looking for an excuse to get out of the house, support a local farm, and maybe leave with blue fingers and a full stomach, this one looks well worth the trip.
