Somebody Bought a $1M Mega Millions Ticket at Kroger in Davison
Attention Kroger shoppers. We'd like to congratulate the area's newest millionaire, who purchased a whopper of a Mega Millions ticket at the Kroger store in Davison.
The lucky player who purchased a $1 million winning ticket matched five white balls chosen in the Mega Millions drawing for May 17, 2024. Those winning numbers were 8, 17, 40, 60, and 70. The ticket was purchased at the Kroger grocery store at 700 N. State Road in Davison.
The $1 million winning ticket sold locally was the only million-dollar ticket sold for Friday's drawing. The Mega Millions is offered in 44 US states, Washington DC, and the US Virgin Islands.
Missed it by That Much
The lucky player was just one number away from taking home the Mega Millions jackpot in Friday night's drawing. The winning ticket did not match the Mega Ball, which was 3. Had that player matched all six numbers, he or she would have nabbed the entire jackpot. At the time of the drawing, the jackpot had swelled to $393 million.

With no winner Friday, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to grow. The estimated jackpot for tonight's drawing (5/21) is now $421 million.
The Winner Has Not Yet Come Forward
As of today, we don't know if the lucky player is a Davison resident or someone who just happened to be shopping at the Kroger on State Road. Lottery winners have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.
In March of this year, a $1 million winning ticket expired one year after it was purchased at a CVS Pharmacy in Southfield. The money from that winning ticket went back into Michigan's school aid fund.
At the time of this writing, a winning Powerball ticket sold in this area worth $842 million has yet to be claimed. That ticket was sold at the Food Castle Market in Grand Blanc.
