This hasn’t really taken off in Michigan yet, but one major pizza chain is giving it a shot—and it could completely change how you grab dinner.

Michigan-based Little Caesars has just opened its first self-service, self-checkout location in the state, holding a grand opening on Saturday, May 2. The new Dearborn Heights store is the company’s second location of its kind nationwide, after first testing the concept in Rockford, Illinois.

Here's How Little Caesars' New Self-Service Location Works

According to Detroit’s Fox 2, customers place orders through the chain’s mobile app or website, then pick up their food from a designated area inside the store. Customers can also order and pay for Hot-N-Ready pizzas at self-checkout kiosks.

Designed For Speed And Convenience

Trish Heusel, Vice President of Innovation at Little Caesars, says the concept is designed for customers who want to get in and out quickly.

“We know that many of our guests are in a hurry and want something seamless, easy and fun. You can do this so quickly and seamlessly—it makes your dinner, snack or lunch as easy as possible,” Heusel said.

Another Big Test Is Already Underway

The new concept comes just weeks after Little Caesars began testing another idea: drone delivery.

While Little Caesars is headquartered in Michigan, that test isn’t happening here—at least not yet. Customers in Wylie, Texas, can now have a pizza delivered by drone in roughly four and a half minutes. In other words, it arrives fast enough that it’s still steaming.

So, when could that make its way to Michigan? For now, it’s a waiting game.
