Pizza Chain With Nearly 50 Michigan Locations Plans Major Closures
A major pizza chain with nearly 50 locations across Michigan is shutting down dozens of restaurants, and the company has now revealed which stores are affected.
Papa John's recently released a list of locations slated to close as part of a plan to eliminate hundreds of underperforming restaurants over the next two years.
According to Fast Company, Papa John's has already shuttered dozens of locations across at least 17 states in 2026. Texas, California, Florida, and Arizona have been hit especially hard.
Even with the planned closures, Papa John's still maintains a sizable presence in the Great Lakes State. According to the company's store locator, the chain operates nearly 50 restaurants across Michigan, including locations in Saginaw, Grand Rapids, Mount Pleasant, Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo, and several locations in the Metro Detroit area.
Which Michigan Papa John's Locations Are Closing?
While most of the announced closures have occurred outside Michigan, two locations in the state are included on the list published by Fast Company. The affected restaurants are located in Cadillac and Grand Rapids.

Why Is Papa John's Closing Restaurants?
The Michigan closures are part of a broader effort by Papa John's to eliminate underperforming restaurants as it works to improve profitability. Company officials have said many of the targeted locations are older stores that have struggled to generate sufficient sales. The company expects to close about 200 restaurants this year, with additional closures planned through 2027.
