Michigan Officers Step In to Deliver Baby in Melvindale Parking Lot
When a traffic stop in Michigan turned into an unexpected birth story.
A Melvindale police officer, his brother, and a fellow officer are gaining both local and national attention after delivering a baby in a parking lot in Wayne County.
On Friday, November 7th, 2025, Officer Al Hasan pulled over a speeding vehicle just before 2:00 a.m. When he approached the car, he discovered a female passenger who was in labor.
Her husband was behind the wheel, rushing to get her to the hospital, but the soon-to-be baby on board had other plans.
According to the New York Post, fellow Melvindale Police Officer Mohamed Hachem also responded to the scene and determined that immediate medical attention was needed.
Believe it or not, when Officer Hachem called the Dearborn dispatch for assistance with what would be his first-ever delivery, the dispatcher on the other end of the line was none other than his own brother.
That’s right - Joe Hacham, the dispatcher on duty, guided his brother through the parking lot delivery. This sounds like a Lifetime movie.
CBS Detroit reports that the baby was born within five minutes of the traffic stop. Can you imagine?
As you can see in the videos below, both mother Maria and her newborn daughter Galilea are doing well, thanks to the quick thinking and efforts of the police officers and dispatcher.
Everyone has a birth story, but this one is truly one of a kind. Welcome to the world, little lady.
