They say all good things must come to an end. Well, that's what customers of a once-popular restaurant in Metro Detroit are saying after hearing that their favorite spot is closing down.

I can handle dollar stores, pharmacies, and fabric stores closing, but when BBQ joints start closing, that’s when I take it personally. Come on, the last thing this state needs is one less spot to get delicious smoked meat.

All kidding aside, you’re running out of time if you want to experience some tasty BBQ from this Metro Detroit spot, as the business is shutting down for good this weekend.

Once-Popular BBQ Joint in Metro Detroit is Closing

It's the end of an era as Lockhart's BBQ in Royal Oak is closing its doors for good.

Last week, Lockhart’s BBQ shared a message on their Facebook page informing customers that they would be closing down due to their lease expiring. They said the cost to renew was too high and no longer affordable. I can only imagine what it costs to lease a space in Royal Oak.

Lockhart's BBQ:

We have loved every brisket and rack of ribs that we have smoked on our Oyler. More importantly, we have loved meeting so many BBQ fans and enthusiasts over the last 15 years, and we want to thank you for so many great memories. Without the support of our guests, we would have never had the opportunity to experience this time. Lastly, we cannot forget our amazing team. Several of you have been with us since day 1, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You were always the heart and soul of Lockhart's BBQ.

The last brisket they will smoke and serve will be this Sunday, April 20.

It’s always sad to see a restaurant close down, especially after serving the community for so long.
