Quick-Thinking Michigan Officer Frees Baby From Cord and Delivers Her Safely
An officer with the Imlay City Police Department recently responded to a call about a woman who was in active labor.

Officer Velasco was dispatched around 4 a.m. to a home in Imlay City where a woman named Makenzey was in active labor.

The 911 dispatcher started giving instructions on how to deliver the baby and that's when officer Velasco stepped in.
During the birth, officer Velasco noticed the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck and quickly and carefully freed it.
He also rubbed of the baby's back and other extremities to encourage crying and breathing.
With officer Velasco’s help, Makenzey delivered a healthy baby girl who weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and was named Renesmee.
Makenzey and Jesse stopped by the Imlay City Police Department earlier this week.
They reunited with officer Velasco and speak to the media about the unforgettable experience.
