A Genesee County man changed up his usual lottery routine, and it paid off for him in a big way, netting him a $400,000 Club Keno prize from the Michigan Lottery.

How a Simple Change Led to a Big Lottery Win

The lucky 71-year-old player, who has chosen to remain anonymous, tells the Michigan Lottery that he usually opts for the eight-spot ticket. But while enjoying a meal at Uno's in Birch Run, he opted for a 10-spot ticket, a spur-of-the-moment decision that changed everything.

“I typically play an eight-spot Club Keno ticket, but that day I decided to play a 10 spot instead,” said the player. “I was watching the drawings while eating dinner at Uno’s when I saw all 10 of my numbers come in. It was so exciting!”

The Numbers That Made Him Rich

He matched 10 of the 20 Club Keno numbers drawn on August 29, which earned him $100,000. But since he opted for the Kicker, his prize multiplied to $400,000.

He tells the Michigan Lottery he plans to save his winnings.

Maybe that’s the lesson for the rest of us: sometimes changing up your usual lottery routine — trying different tickets or numbers — is all it takes to turn your luck around. Who knows? Maybe your next ticket will be a winner.
