A Saginaw man experiencing homelessness says he feared for his safety after construction workers lifted and shook a porta-potty with a forklift while he was still inside.

Kevin Kolbe told WJRT-TV he was using the restroom on Ojibway Island when the incident happened. Crews were working on a bank stabilization project, and Kolbe says they didn’t want him using the unit rented by Fisher Contracting, the company handling the work.

Kolbe Describes Porta-Potty Incident

“They yelled as I was going in, ‘Hey, hey, hey, that is our porta potty,’ but I had to go bad,” Kolbe said.

Workers Accused of Laughing at Him

He recalled hanging on as the forklift shook the unit, splashing waste all around him. When he finally exited, he says workers were laughing.

“The guy is sitting in the forklift. He says, ‘Get the F out of our porta-potty.’ They all knew, and when I finally got out, they were all laughing,” Kolbe told the station.

Construction Company Responds to Allegations

Fisher Contracting representatives said no one outside the crew was allowed in the area and claimed workers were unaware anyone was inside the unit.

Kolbe tells the TV station that he called 911, but police never arrived.
