Why is the New Cowgirls Bar Just South of Fenton Sadly Closing?
We first reported the opening of this Brighton bar & grill in April. Then, it was switching from Ginopolis' Bar-BQ Smokehouse / Speakeasy which opened in 2019.
Sadly, after just a couple of months the concept is shutting down.
Why is Cowgirls closing in Brighton?
Downtown Brighton is under extreme construction this year. The roadway is entirely ripped up. That has caused business to slow, understandably. The Ginopolis family (owners) made the announcement on Facebook.
This is sad news after it opened with a lot of fanfare.
What was the Cowgirls Bar and Grill concept?
Originally the plan was for a well-rounded entertainment and restaurant venue featuring live country music, country DJs, line dancing, a banquet space and even comedy shows in the basement.

Back in the spring, owner, Melissa Ginopolis, told Livingston Daily the restaurant menu would be smaller, but showcase favorite barbecue items from the smokehouse days including pulled pork brisket, brisket reuben sandwiches and jumbo wings. You can expect "bar food and some salads."
It's tough to believe any business along this stretch in Downtown Brighton could not be impacted by people avoiding the nightmare construction. It's a months-long streetscape project aiming to narrow the roadway and increase the size of sidewalks. Great concept, in theory, but unfortunate they couldn't find a way to do it in a way businesses wouldn't take such a hit.
Based on Cowgirls Facebook update (above) it seems there's a glimmer of hope they could return following construction or not at all. We hope everything works out for the best for all involved. Their last day in business is July 31st.
