Popular Fashion Chain Declares Bankruptcy Closing Stores In Michigan
It hasn't been the best year for fashion retailers that's for sure. Just a few months ago we told you Macy's announced store closings over financial woes, and now you can add another to the list.
Express, the iconic retailer we’ve all known and loved, has announced they are filing for bankruptcy. As a result, some Express stores, including some right here in Michigan, will be closing their doors. The retailer, which operates more than 500 across the United States, announced the move on Monday, April 22.
The company operates Express, Express factory outlets, Bonobos along with UpWest stores under its corporate umbrella. According to reports, they plan to close 95 Express locations and all UpWest locations immediately. Closing sales at those stores will begin on April 23.
What Michigan Express Stores Will Be Closing Their Doors?
Currently, there are 8 Express stores and 8 Express Factory stores in Michigan. Of those, two will be closing their doors as a result of the bankruptcy announcement. Those stores are:
- 14600 Lakeside Circle in Sterling Heights
- 6650 Westnedge Ave in Portage
The company stated that all of its brands’ online channels will continue to accept orders, fulfill orders, and process returns. Shoppers will also be able to redeem gift cards and store credits in-store. Those customer benefits with the Express Insider program will remain unaffected.
If you're looking for a silver lining in all of this, there's sure to be some pretty amazing deals at the store that are closing. We will keep you up to date if any other Michigan locations are impacted by the bankruptcy.
