And it raised money for Ludington hospital's fund to help cancer patients.

So, not only did they break a world record, but they raised money for a great cause.

Almost 1,400 people convened in Ludington's Stearns Park beach to create sand angels at the same time. Only 27 people were disqualified for not following the rules, and the event wasn't just to put Michigan in the record books.

It costed participants $20 per person to participate, with funds raised going to the Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Foundation's fund that helps cancer patients with financial issues.
