This Empty Michigan Prison is Being Converted into a Haunted House
And it's all to benefit local fire departments.
If you're making a trip to the west side of the mitt to see the beautiful fall colors, plan on making a stop just north of Ludington for this one-of-a-kind haunted attraction.
Camp Sauble is an abandoned prison; it opened in 1960 and transformed into a boot camp for four years in the late 80's. After that, to save money, it was changed into a minimum security prison. It was closed in 2005 and sold to Free Soil Township for $1.
This year, it's being used as a haunted house called Cages of Carnage. It's located at 4058 E. Free Soil Road in Free Soil Township and open from 7-11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26th.
