Michigan’s I-75 Repair Project Will Snarl Traffic This June
With Memorial Day behind us, you can expect to see more and more road construction throughout the state. This will include major travel delays on a stretch of I-75 through Genesee County.
If I-75 is part of your daily commute, plan for long delays. Or perhaps find another travel route until the construction project is completed.
Where is the I-75 Construction Happening?
The Michigan Department of Transportation website states that the project will begin on Sunday, June 1st. The work will take place on I-75 northbound and southbound between M-57/Vienna Road and the Saginaw County line, just south of Birch Run.

Construction crews will be shutting down one of the four travel lanes at a time along with both shoulders during the project. This will limit passing and make pulling over both difficult and dangerous.
How Long Will the Repairs Last?
The project is expected to last until June 8th. This pavement repair project is intended to 'improve and extend the service life of the freeway'. It is a part of the governor's efforts to 'Fix the Damn Roads'.

According to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, 'Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely. By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let's build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs."
