But it's temporary, so the mayor and the city council had better get this contract dispute straightened out.

The interim service is in effect until Friday, August 12th. Republic Services released this statement:

"We are encouraged that Mayor Weaver has reconsidered our earlier offer to provide interim residential waste collection service in Flint."

As we posted yesterday, a dispute between Mayor Weaver and the city council's choices of garbage pickup companies has created a delay in trash pickup in the city of Flint. People reported that the city smelled like garbage yesterday, and that dumpsters were being padlocked.

Nice to see that they've got a temporary solution, because the people of Flint should NOT be the ones to lose out during this contract dispute.
