Attempted Carjacking in Grand Blanc Leads to Arrest

Police say a Flint man is now in custody after an attempted carjacking reported in Grand Blanc Township, with investigators linking him to several other incidents across Genesee County. The arrest involved Grand Blanc Township Police working alongside Michigan State Police.

What Police Say Happened in Grand Blanc Township

The attempted carjacking was reported around 9:30 Friday night at the Parkwood Mobile Home Park off Maple Road. Beyond the location and time, police have been tight-lipped about exactly what happened during the incident, releasing very few details as the investigation continues.

Similar Carjacking Incident Reported in Burton

ABC 12 reports that about an hour later, investigators say they obtained surveillance images showing a possible suspect inside a Speedway gas station at Center and Bristol roads in Burton. That sighting has become a key part of the case, especially since Burton police were already looking into a separate call at that same location that shared similarities with the Grand Blanc incident.

At this point, police say they are seeking 18 criminal charges against the 30-year-old suspect. His name has not been released because he had not been arraigned as of Friday afternoon. All reports from the various incidents are now being forwarded to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office, which will decide which charges, if any, are officially filed.

No charges had been announced by the end of the day Friday, and authorities say the investigation remains active.
