Grab Your Bike: New Grand Blanc Township Trail Is Open
If you like hiking or biking, you’re going to love this! The Grand Blanc Township community gathered Wednesday evening to celebrate something pretty cool for Genesee County. Another piece of the growing Legacy Trails network is now officially open.
New Embury-Cook Road Trail Opens in Grand Blanc Township
The new Embury-Cook Road Trail was celebrated with a ride-through ribbon cutting, and plenty of people showed up on their bikes to be among the first to enjoy it. This isn't just another path through the community, either. The Embury-Cook Road Trail is part of the much bigger Legacy Trails vision, which could eventually connect around 200 miles of nonmotorized trails throughout Flint and Genesee County.

Genesee County Commissioner James Avery said the investment is about much more than recreation. The goal is to create communities where families want to put down roots, where kids and grandkids want to stay, and where new residents see Genesee County as a place they want to call home.
Mott Foundation Invests Millions in Michigan Trails
A big reason this vision continues to move forward is the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, which has committed up to $25 million to help expand nonmotorized trails throughout the community according to GeneseeCountyMI.gov.

Ridgway White, President and CEO of the Mott Foundation, talked about creating safer routes for kids walking or biking to school, while also giving residents more opportunities to connect with some major destinations in the future.
More Trails Mean More Ways to Explore Genesee County
The opening of the Embury-Cook Road Trail is another important step toward building a more connected Genesee County. And if the Legacy Trails vision becomes reality, eventually you'll be able to hop on a bike, hit the trail, and explore a whole lot more of our community without ever needing to start the car.
